Blank Girl by Dum Dum Girls

song of the day

Today’s tune is by L.A. based band Dum Dum Girls. This band was originally just a solo effort by Dee Dee Penny (aka Kirsten Gundred). Their debut full length I Will Be came out back in March & has been getting a lot of attention. Dum Dum Girls are playing tomorrow night at the Echo with The Crocodiles.

Marathon by Tennis

song of the day

I just recently found about this band Tennis from another blog. They are a married couple from Denver who recently bought a boat and sailed around the East Coast for 8 months. During their trip they started writing songs together. No album yet but the 3 songs on their myspace page are good! Very lo-fi stuff. See what you think…

Sleep Paralysist by Neon Indian

song of the day

I had a chance to check out Neon Indian at First Fridays at the Natural History Museum this past Friday. Neon Indian is Alan Palomo but brings along a live band when on tour. This song was not on his album, Psychic Chasms but was some sort of promo for Mountain Dew’s label. This was the final event for First Fridays this year. It’s always a pretty good time with a fun crowd generally.
