Halloween by Matt Pond PA

song of the day

Happy Halloween! So I’m not really sure what this song is about but the title seemed appropriate. Plus I really really like it. This track is off Matt Pond PA’s 2005 album Several Arrows Later which is a really great one.

Decatur St. by The Twilight Singers

song of the day

So I’m in New Orleans for the weekend & I couldn’t help but post a song about the Big Easy & this one seemed appropriate. Greg Dulli of The Twilight Singers & The Afghan Whigs has spent a lot of his days in this town & I was lucky enough to see both bands play in N.O. back in the late 90′s & early 2000. Mr. Dulli will be a doing a solo tour playing songs from both bands & he’s playing L.A. on 11/16 at the Troubadour. Tickets for A Night with Greg Dulli are sold out. Can’t wait!

In Your Eyes (feat. The Drums) by Edwyn Collins

song of the day

It’s been a really long time since I’ve heard anything by Scottish singer Edwyn Collins. He had a hit back in 1994 with A Girl Like You. I remember really liking that song but since then I hadn’t paid much attention. He’s done some producing for some great artists & put out a couple of albums. He’s back at it after suffering a double brain haemorrhage a few years ago & now has a really great new album called Losing Sleep. Several of the songs were co-written with some really great musicians including Ryan Jarman of The Cribs, Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy from Franz Ferdinand, Johnny Marr & this one with The Drums. Not sure when the album is coming out in the States. It is import only as of now.
